Rubengera Community Library
A
Place
where
Futures
begin
The Rubengera Community Library is the first-ever public library in the entire district
— a space created to provide consistent, structured access to education and inspiration. Today, it welcomes around 500 visitors each month, offering students and community members a reliable place to read, study, and grow.
Together with our local partners, we established a fully equipped learning environment furnished with a large study table, bookshelves, storage boxes, beanbags, and a carpet to create both focus and comfort. The library houses 500 carefully selected books in English, French, and Kinyarwanda, covering science, language, fiction, business, self-development, and more.
In addition to books, students have access to school materials such as notebooks, writing supplies, and educational board games that encourage collaborative learning. Talented local artists transformed the space with vibrant wall paintings, artwork, and educational posters, turning the library into more than just a study room — it is a place that feels alive, welcoming, and creative. The library is led by Rukundo, a former teacher, who now serves as librarian and ensures the space remains organized, supportive, and actively used.
The Rubengera Community Library is not a temporary initiative. It is a long-term investment in access to knowledge — a structured environment where education is accessible, curiosity is encouraged, and futures begin to take shape.
